Tallink Grupp takes another step towards more sustainable vessel operations with nauticAi electronic logbooks
Tallink Grupp has recently rolled out nauticAi’s electronic logbook solution across its entire fleet, following a successful prototype development and pilot process of the system on the company’s Paldiski-Kapellskär cargo vessel Sailor in 2023.
The new solution enables the company’s vessels to log a whole range of data electronically instead of physical traditional paper logbooks, including fuel consumption data, garbage (discharge) data, ship’s radio watch data, ballasting operations, fuel bunkering operations and so much more. The new electronic solution shares data with on shore back-office support functions, making real-time vessel and voyage data available for everyone who needs it in the company for better ongoing monitoring and operational efficiencies and improvements.
Piloting the new electronic logbooks for the rest of the fleet was company vessel Sailor and her crew, who helped ensure that the best solution meeting the specific needs of Tallink Grupp’s fleet was developed in partnership with nauticAi team.
Commenting on the electronic logbook roll-out, Tallink Grupp’s Chief Captain and Head of Ship Management, Captain Tarvi-Carlos Tuulik said:
„Our long cooperation with the nauticAi team, introducing a number of useful data systems for our vessels already for many years, meant that when the team came to us with another idea for a new solution that would give us greater efficiencies across vessel operations, it was an immediate agreement to develop such a solution.
The prototype development and pilot phase of the electronic logbooks on Sailor with the professional vessel crew was a detailed 6-month project, during which time nauticAi and our team developed an excellent core solution to which additional data sets and building blocks were added during the pilot phase. We now believe we have yet another great system in place on our vessels as a result of this partnership, which will serve us well from both operational excellence as well as sustainable operations point of view.“
